Personal Development – What is it anyways?
Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Jessica and I write to small businesses, offering tips on how to weather the storms when they come. If you haven’t had an opportunity yet, check out my post on mindset here.
It plays a very important job in growing as a person. Reading books by some of the greats will really change your life and change the way you think. We can’t become anything differently until we get our thoughts in alignment.
Personal Development – if you allow it WILL revolutionize your life. It really will. I was lucky to have amazing parents who knew about personal development and made sure my brother’s and I knew about it as well.
I went to a conference once and was blessed to hear John Maxwell speak – WOW it was an awesome conference. His words were so powerful to me. One thing stood out though above everything else. That is this: His dad payed him to read personal development books. Payed him to read books that would better him, would shape his mind.
Most kids get payed for doing chores but now John Maxwell, it was by reading. I know that because of what his dad did, that is the reason why John Maxwell is one of the greats today. He has devoted his entire life to bettering himself and passing that knowledge onto us.
Advice for you reading this is: personal development. I would love to share some of my recommendations with you and a snippet about what each one is about.
- The Go Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann- This book is awesome. It challenged the way I thought and I have recommended this book and actually bought it for a number of people I have in my life. It follows a man named Joe who desires so much to have success at his job. He is struggling and finds a man willing to give up himself to help Joe.
- John C. Maxwell – He has authored a ton of books – All of which are amazing. I highly recommend you click here to visit his website. He is amazing at what he does. He helps people build themselves and build their business!
- Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill – Wow this is a must read. It talks about a burning desire and how it is a must, having clear goals.
- Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki – He is an inspiration. He talks about being financially independent – not relying on credit. Building wealth in real estate and investing.
There are so many other authors and amazing books. Begin to love studying, love challenging yourself.
